Enrica Bellochi defended in the Faculty of Sciences of the Autonomous University of Madrid her thesis work entitled "2D kinematic characterization of a representative sample & nbsp; of infrared luminous and ultraluminous galaxies (LIRGs and ULIRGs). & nbsp; An analysis based on `kinemetry 'of the observed VIMOS / VLT data & nbsp; with the integral field spectroscopy unit (IFU)" led by Santiago Arribas Mocoroa and Luis Colina Robledo obtaining the qualification of "Cum Laude". < / p>

My doctoral work is focused on the kinematic characterization of a sample of 38 local (U) LIRG systems observed with the unit's integral field spectroscopy unit & nbsp; VIMOS / VLT.

In particular, the following topics have been developed: (i) the & nbsp; 2D kinematic characterization of the two components kinematics & nbsp; found in these objects ("narrow" component, related to & nbsp; the ionized interstellar medium and "broad" component, associated with & nbsp; "outflow" phenomena), together with the characterization of other & nbsp; fundamental properties (dynamic support, dynamic masses, amplitude & nbsp; speed, average speed dispersion); (ii) the & nbsp; Analysis of kinematic asymmetries with respect to rotation with & nbsp; the purpose of distinguishing between discs and "mergers", whose relative fraction & nbsp; is an important observations parameter to constrict the & nbsp; of evolution of galaxies. For this purpose, the method of & nbsp; "kinemetry" together with the cinematic criteria proposed by Shapiro & nbsp; et al. (2008). In addition, I present the results obtained using an & nbsp; new kinematic criterion based on "kinemetry" (Bellocchi et al. & nbsp; 2012) to characterize the kinematic asymmetries in this sample from & nbsp; galaxies.
