Study of the material and biological information in the environment, preservation and interaction with the physical milieu, molecular biomarker identification and development of methodologies for their detection.

The strategy to achieve these objectives is based on:

1 - Geomicrobiologic studies of extreme environments considered terrestrial analogs of other planetary environments. Sampling techniques are employed for surface (water, rocks, soil, sediment) and at depth by drilling shallow (1-5 m) and deep (600 m), mineralogical study (XRD, Raman), geochemical (ICP-MS, ion chromatography ), Organic Chemistry (GC / MS), biochemical (proteins and total sugars as well as amino acids and monosaccharides), Microbiology (Enrichment cultures, and metatranscriptómicos metagenomic studies, oligonucleotide microarrays, microscopic techniques such as FISH and SEM) etc.

2 - Developing immunosensors antibody microarray format: Production of antibodies against natural extracts, microbial strains, proteins, nucleic acids, exopolysaccharides, etc, and fluorescent immunoassay development chemiluminescent ... We have a unique collection of 500 antibodies and microarray (LDChip) tested in the field.

3 - Implementing tools for biomarker detection in situ. We developed the instrument SOLID (Signs Of LIfe Detector) capable of processing a sample of up to 1 g of soil or rock ground and analyzed by automated LDChip immunosensor. Currently SOLID has a TRL6 development level (standard NASA), has been presented in several calls for instruments for the exploration of Mars and we have serious options to enter any future opportunities.

4 - Implementation of methods and tools for veterinary purposes or environmental projects through the 7th EU Framework Programme (2 in force) and 2020.
