Seminary 2019-03-19. Exploration of Martian atmospheric dynamics with NASA's InSight lander and high-resolution modeling

By: Dr. Aymeric Spiga, Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique, Sorbonne Université, Paris.

Day: 2019 - 3 - 19
Time: 12:00
Venue: Building H0, INTA (meeting room)
Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial (INTA)
Ctra. de Ajalvir, Km. 4
28850 Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid)

To access INTA campus, it is necessary to send an email to indicating name and surname, ID number and, if you came by car: its brand, model and plate.

I will provide an overview of the results on the Martian atmosphere obtained by InSight at the surface of Mars, with a focus on atmospheric measurements on board the spacecraft, and some perspectives on the possible seismic signatures associated to weather phenomena. Those observations can be interpreted by mesoscale modeling and Large-Eddy Simulations: I will describe the past work of our team on this topic, and some preliminary simulations to interpret the observations on board InSight.
