Este seminario pertenece a la serie de charlas organizadas de forma conjunta por el Centro de Astrobiología (CAB) y por la Asociación de Personal Investigador del INTA (API). Son impartidas por investigadores del INTA y del CAB con el objetivo de dar a conocer su trabajo.

Título: Experimental Astrochemistry at Brazil: current researches and future challenges

Resumen: In this talk I will present selected researches of the Brazilian astrochemical community involving molecules in both gas and condensed phase (ices). Most of the experiments were performed at the Brazilian synchrotron light Source (LNLS/CNPEM) and laboratories at different universities in the southeast part of Brazil. We will also present the recent experiments performed at the Laboratório de Astroquimica e Astrobiologia (LASA) of the Universidade do Vale do Paraiba (UNIVAP) at São Jose dos Campos. In our experiments, we have employed techniques such as Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry (TOF-MS), Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and Gas Chromatography (GC-MS). Our main research focus has been the formation and destruction of prebiotic compounds (and related species) by ionizing radiation (photons, electrons, and ions). The experiments try to simulate the effect of ionizing radiation in gas-phase molecules and also at frozen surfaces (e.g. interstellar grains, moon surfaces and comets) in space environment analogs. The implication of such investigations at astrobiology will be also discussed.
